What we did for the first three weeks of school + what it looked like!
The first month of school is always wonderful and bonkers and the biggest energy shift imaginable. No matter what you spent your summer doing (building a deck in my case), there is nothing that compares to the energy expenditure of spending your day with kids!
I hope you’ve had a good start. Mine has been great. A few circumstances (including a new principal and teaching my own kid (!!!)) have really re-awakened me. And boy did I need it!
The new principal mandated that for the first seven school days, there would be no content at all. Just community building and foundation-laying. For the second seven days, we would review. And THEN we could get down to business. This turned out to be a wonderful invitation to not rush. To enjoy. To ease in.
My first three weeks ended with an all-day, full-school summer reading extravaganza that I found myself in charge of. (That’s why you didn’t receive this newsletter Saturday morning.) If you want to hear more about the logistics of that, let me know. :)
