How many times have you seen your students in the last two weeks? I long for snow days and then also internally rebel at the chaos they cause. (I haven’t had actual snow days. I’ve had two delays, which, truly, causes even more chaos as my classes slide off track from one another.)

I love all the resets that come in January at school. The new year. The new semester. Lots of space and reason to pause and reflect and jump back in with two feet.

Over the last two weeks, my 7th graders moved through the studying poems and drafting poems phase of our mini winter poetry writing unit and into revision. Some of them are quite amazing! My 8th graders finished up their historical photograph research essay, and next week we’re starting Hamlet. (What our skills focus will be, I don’t quite yet know…. but I’ll figure it out by Monday.)
