Next Steps in the Moving Writers Community
My plans for a come-back and what that means for you!
Hi, Friends,
I’ve missed you, and also I have really needed this time away.
In addition to present grief and grieving, I am seeing the ways that my intense hustle over the three years of my husband’s illness — as a caregiver, teacher, parents, and entrepreneur — has left me generally burnt out in just about every way.
At the same time, my work is often what gives me life and energy and purpose. So, I’m trying to figure out a balance between rest and work that feels right.
Here are my plans:
Starting next weekend, I will resume weekly posts for the remainder of the 2025 school year:
Every other week, you will receive an InstaDigest as usual — a biweekly look into my daily classroom lesson plans.
On the other weeks, you will receive a curated Syllabus Go-Bag. This will be a way for us to dig into the vast (but often unexplored) Moving Writers Community archives and mix and match lessons, activities, and units based on themes, skills, and more!
I will be refunding all pre-purchased professional development that has not been recorded and sent out. This will include a prorated refund for those of you who purchased an all-access pass. I plan to have all of this sorted by April 1.
This summer, I will have NEW weekly PD — all included in your membership! — around my brand new book Mini Moves For Every Writer, which comes out in July. You can preorder it now! This book has 50 mini writing moves that work across the curriculum with mentor texts AND a student-facing video for each move AND a student workbook featuring work space on each move for each content area! I am so excited to share it with you!
My vision is that this summer — beginning the last week of June — we will plan the 2025-2026 school year together including moves from this book to anchor your writing instruction.
I know I’ve said it before, but, truly, thank you for your kindness and your grace over the last couple months. I am grateful that you let me into your classrooms and that this is a place you spend time. If you have any questions at all about how we’re going to move forward, shoot me an email at movingwriters@gmail.com.
Love,
Rebekah
Thank you, Rebekah. You have given us so much of your brilliance over the years. I hope that you will be kind to yourself and give yourself all the space you need.
Lots of hugs.
