We’ve certainly picked the right time to dive into reading — both its science and its practical application in our real lives!

Since the Rose Horowitch article I first shared with you, there has been a flurry of media surrounding the question: are we actually becoming a post-literate society?

Our job together is to figure out what to do about this in our individual classroom contexts. But first we have to understand the conversation.

Then, join the conversation. What are you thinking? What are your gut reactions — does this feel true? What feels most true? What most parallels what you are seeing in your own school and in your own life?

Then, beginning in September, we’ll get into what this actually means for us in our classroom lives — marrying research and theory with the most practical classroom application. The kind of stuff you can use immediately.
